So I shot a music video for my song "Some May Say Love" about a million years ago and I'm finally going to release it on YouTube this coming TUESDAY, MAY 15th!
It's a freaky little number that shows off my dish-breaking finesse and absolutely highlights my dark side. (Not for wee ones or the faint of heart!)
I'd love your help to spread the word about my maiden voyage into music video stardom and I'm even offering the chance of winning a lovely reward if you do!
Last month I was in Paris and I collected some delightful treats
that could be yours should you choose to
SHARE MY MUSIC VIDEO WITH YOUR FACEBOOK FRIENDS
AND TWITTER FOLLOWERS.
Twitter peeps:
Starting next TUESDAY, MAY 15th,
post the following on your timeline for a chance to win the fantabulous Paris prize pack!
@catjahnke's new music video for "Some May Say Love" out now: http://youtu.be/38dQwHFwoAE RT to win a Cat Jahnke prize pack from her trip to Paris!
Facebook homies:
I will post the video on my Facebook page (www.facebook.com/catjahnkemusic) next TUESDAY, MAY 15th. At that point, you will be invited to share the video with your friends for a chance to win the fantabulous Paris prize pack!
* I played my first show in Paris and it was amazing! Famed food blogger, David Lebovitz (www.davidlebovitz.com), was also speaking at the event. Hoity-toity! Thanks to the fantastic crowd who even gave me a standing ovation afterward. I am literally holding my breath until I can come back! (Phew… I'm getting a little light-headed…)
* I contributed a new song of mine, "Tuesday", to a short film that was nominated for EIGHT awards at the 168 Hour Film Festival down in L.A, including Best Original Score. The film, "There", was created by a crew in Paris and it was an honour to participate even from a distance. This is the third time I've contributed to the festival but the first time I've attended. I also played a short set on opening night of the event and even got to walk the red carpet!! Check it out!

* Two months ago while I was in Vancouver I stayed up late and had a great Skype interview with Bruce Clayton from Blue Marble Radio in Australia. He's polished it up, made me sound smart, and will post the interview next month.
Stay tuned for details!

Yup! This is it! You got all those pesky consonants in the right order and have successfully made your way to WWW.CATJAHNKE.COM!!
I guess that's good news for both of us!
:)
So welcome to the brand new site. It's been a long time coming, but I think the improvements will be worth the wait!
Cat Jahnke in the running for "Contemporary Vocalist of the Year"
at the 2011 Canadian Folk Music Awards!
Upon checking my Twitter feed this afternoon, I very nearly scared the poop out of my producer who was working in the basement studio when I loudly exclaimed "Holy crap!". Turns out the lovely Suzie Vinnick from Saskatoon had tweeted about the nominees for Contemporary Vocalist of the Year at the upcoming Canadian Folk Music Awards, and I was one of those mentioned, along with David Myles, Matthew Barber and Bruce Cockburn.
!!!
???
My first impression was that she had made a terrible mistake, a mistake that would have me reeling at the prospect of this missed opportunity. But a quick Google search led me to this page and the glory of seeing my name printed just above that of the legendary Bruce 'freaking' Cockburn.
Cross your fingers for me folks as I am definitely feeling like the underdog here. And if on December 4th I'm only left smiling happily up at the lucky winner of whatever object they use to commemorate a CFMA triumph, then at least I can take some sweet joy in the inevitable tote bag that I'll giddily take home...

New Team Members!
Along with the new website, I am happy to introduce two new members to my team. You've most likely heard me mention Darren Johnston, who has been my one-man-behind-the-band for several years, taking care of booking, tour management, publicity, audio production, web mastery, and chin-up pep talks. Well, he's got some company now - and I'm sure he needs it!
We've managed to rope in manager and business know-it-all Jonathan Frate. So far, Jonathan has already proved his worth by calmly telling me on numerous occasions, "You don't have to worry about that now. Leave it to me." I don't believe sweeter words have ever been spoken to a frazzled self-employed independent musician! Blessings upon you Mr. Frate. I hope you know what you're in for!
And last, but certainly not least, we have my angel, Doug Thiessen. Doug will be partnering with Darren, Jonathan, and me as a financial support and tell-it-like-it-is guru. He's trying his hardest to raise my fancy quota by introducing me to fine wines, but so far he's only been met with looks of shock and horror when I'm told that the red I'm drinking is worth a million bucks a bottle. Save it for the connoisseurs, Doug!
Hopefully this new amalgamation of caped crusaders can help me tackle the hooded villains of procrastination and biatches, and there will be joy in Catland!
